Lake Taupo, New Zealand offers excellent trout fishing all year round.

Most fishing takes the form of trolling either lures or flies (no bait fishing is permitted). We use a combination of downriggers, harling and trolling on board – depending on the time of day, weather and client time restraints. Trout averages about 4 pounds and a typical Taupo fishing excursion on Lake Taupo will see your crew prepare your catch for a delicious snack either barbequed or sashimi style. You can even have your catch smoked and couriered to your destination in New Zealand at a small cost.

Trout is not available to purchase in restaurants unless you take your catch to the chef and request they cook it for you. Remember to have your fishing licence with you as proof that you really did catch it.

All our charter boats come equipped with galley, full bar facilities, fishing gear, music systems, flush toilets, lounge style cabins and safety equipment. Our friendly and professional staff will ensure your group has the trip of a lifetime. For Taupo fishing trips we recommend a minimum of 3 hours.

Half day lake fishing and cruise package

Full day lake fishing and cruise package

Optional: swimming during summer months. Fly fishing and Stand Up Paddle Boarding in the remote Western Bays – (summer months) are available on request at extra cost.

The mini Lake Taupo experience package

Included in the package: A 30 minute helicopter scenic flight followed by a landing at the Taupo Marina where the clients will board their launch for a private 3 hour charter, a luncheon on board, wines and beverages, trout fishing, and fishing licences.

Ultimate Lake Taupo luxury experience

Included in the package: An unforgettable 75 minute scenic flight either South: over the volcanoes of the World Heritage Tongariro National Park – Fly south down the eastern side of Great Lake Taupo and into the wilderness of the Kaimanawa ranges. Search for the famous Kaimanawa wild horses and you may even spot wild deer. Land next to the world renowned Rangitikei River to enjoy the crystal clear water and solitude this location has to offer. Continue west towards the World Heritage volcanoes; Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngauruhoe: OR fly north over the famous Huka Falls, mighty Waikato River and this impressive volcanic fault line. Enjoy aerial views of Wai-O-Tapu and Waimangu, New Zealand’s most colourful volcanic area renowned for its Artists Pallet and Champagne Pool. Climb high above the sacred Mt Tarawera summit to reveal the massive rift formed by the 1886 eruption. Kinloch to kawakawa: Guided hike and cruise combo

Included In the package: Our guide will meet you at your accommodation and take you by 4WD to the start of a spectacular two hour hike to Kawakawa Bay in the beautiful Western Bays, where your launch will be waiting. Enjoy a sumptuous luncheon on board, wines and beverages, trout fishing, clay target shooting (conditions apply) and viewing the Maori Rock carvings as you cruise back to the Taupo Marina.

This is a 5 hour round trip.
