Daily Scenic Lake Cruises to the Maori Rock Carvings

Visiting the famous Maori Rock Carvings on Mine Bay is one of the must do activities when you are in the Great Lake Taupo region. The Carvings are only accessible by water and Chris Jolly Outdoors’ scenic lake cruises on our modern and newly refurbished Cruise Cat catamaran would be the fastest way to get to the Carvings.

We have several scenic cruises going out to the Maori Rock Carvings departing at 10.30am, 1.30pm (Taste of Taupo) and 5pm (summer only) daily from Berth 4, Taupo Boat Harbour. On Sundays, you will have the option to enjoy brunch on our 10.30am Sunday Brunch Cruise for an additional cost. Come on board with us to take in the picturesque secluded bays of Lake Taupo and the spectacular snow capped mountain peaks of the World Heritage Tongariro National Park.

Besides being the fastest cruise option to the Carvings, Cruise Cat is also the most comfortable vessel to take during the cooler winter months as we are fully enclosed and heated, keeping you warm and toasty. Our large outdoor decks allow you to enjoy close up views of the Maori Rock Carvings. Children will be kept entertained onboard as we have colouring-in activity sheets and our favourite – skipper certificates for the kids. Cruise Cat is also wheelchair and push chair/stroller accessible.

Chris Jolly Outdoors is a family owned local business and we have been operating for over 35 years, so you’re in the hands of the experienced professionals when you book with us.

"We had such a great time. Everybody loved the trip and we would like to do it again. We loved the fishing, the shooting, the BBQ, the friendliness and knowledge of the staff and Charlie brown is cool. We had such great weather as well. We have already recommended this trip to everyone in our company as something to do when in Taupo. Thanks so much for having us!"

"I would like to extend our gratitude to Simon, Ali, Emma and of course Charlie Brown for providing a fantastic day on board 'Supercat' yesterday. The Taupo staff fishing trip is a highlight in our calendar this year. The Claybird shooting, fishing and the dinner was fantastically organised and appreciated by all and we landed two Rainbow trout!"

"I wanted to send a quick note to thank you and your fine team for looking after our team. We all very much enjoyed our cruise and I might add the weather that day certainly enhanced the overall experience! It was very good to cruise aboard Waianiwa again and I have to say she is a grand cruiser! We will keep in touch and look forward to working together again."
