Please read the following disclosure statements for the activities you will be undertaking.

 

Scenic Cruises and Private Charters

Lake Taupo is deep and is an exposed body of water. Inherent risks of the activity include (but are not limited to):

PERSON OVERBOARD
Your skipper will provide safety briefings and provide instructions around lifejackets storage, location and how to remain safe on the vessel.  Please listen to your skippers instructions at all times.

VESSEL LOSS OF STEERING AND/OR PROPULSION
Our boats are maintained regularly and undergo Maritime New Zealand vessel surveys, though mechanical issues may still arise.  Your qualified MNZ skipper is equipped with a radio and further safety equipment to ensure that contact can be kept with our base operations at all times.

STRICKEN VESSEL
Lake Taupo is a deep and often calm body of water, and though these events are unlikely there’s still remains a risk of collision or boat capsize on the Lake.  We will always cancel trips if predicted weather conditions are unfavourable.

LOSS OF PERSONAL ITEMS
All personal items MUST be secured correctly by yourself if you decide to take it, our boats are covered with comfortable seating and personal items are more than welcome to be onboard. It is at your own risk to bring any personal items on your tour.

RISK OF SLIPS, TRIPS & FALLS
Walking and movement on the boats is permitted during the tour, though there remains a risk of falling over or tripping on the boats.  There is a first aid kit on-board, and seats for all passengers are available.

EXPOSURE TO WEATHER
Our vessels have covered cabin areas where you can shelter from the elements, you will also need to take precautions to manage your sun exposure, and exposure to cold conditions, please bring warm, dry clothing.

ALLERGENS
An Epipen is located on every vessel however it is the individuals responsibility to supply their own and medic themselves, in the event of a severe allergic or anaphylactic reaction. The skipper and staff are to be notified immediately of any early signs to a reaction.

RISK OF DEATH OR OTHER SERIOUS INJURY
We will provide all safety equipment, safety instructions, and a fully trained maritime NZ skipper who is trained in first aid.

Chris Jolly Outdoors staff reserve the right to terminate any trip / your participation at any time that your safety becomes compromised.

Guided Mountain Biking

Before commencing a guided trip with us your guide will require you to complete a a Risk Disclosure and Medical information form. Inherent risks of the activity include (but are not limited to):

  • Collisions with other cyclists, pedestrians, vehicles, fixed or moving objects
  • Falls
  • High speed descents, rapid or uncontrolled acceleration on hills and inclines
  • Difficulty or inability to control speed and direction
  • Becoming lost or separated from other participants
  • Equipment failures and malfunctions
  • Slippery terrain
  • Varying visibility
  • Fatigue / Dehydration / Exposure to weather conditions
  • Loss or damage of personal items
  • Motor vehicle accident during transportation
  • Allergic reactions to food and beverages
  • Risk of death or serious injury

Mountain biking is an inherently dangerous sport and involves the risk of property damage, serious bodily injury, and death. We will provide all safety equipment, safety instructions, and a fully trained guide who is trained in first aid.

Your guide takes all practicable steps to ensure your safety, and with any activity in the outdoors you acknowledge an element of risk involved. All relevant health conditions must be disclosed for your safety and all medication carried, including;

  • Allergies
  • Health Conditions
  • Injuries or physical concerns
  • Physical fitness level

Before commencing a trip with us, your guide will reiterate these risks and require you to complete a waiver and assumption of risk.

Our guides reserve the right to cancel activity if they assess an increase in risks for whatever reason, which may include (but not limited to);

  • Increase in volcanic activity
  • Adverse change or threat of change in weather conditions
  • Client inability
  • Client failing to follow instructions

Guided Hiking

Before commencing a guided trip with us your guide will require you to complete a waiver and/or assumption of risk. Inherent risks of the activity include (but are not limited to):

  • Slips or Trips on uneven ground / Slippery terrain
  • Becoming lost or separated from other participants
  • Varying visibility
  • Fatigue / Dehydration / Exposure to weather conditions
  • Loss or damage of personal items
  • Motor vehicle / Helicopter / Vessel accident during transportation
  • Allergic reactions to food and beverages
  • Volcanic Activity – some of our activities are conducted on or near active volcanoes – we never operate when Department of Conservation alert levels suggest it is unsafe to do so, however volcanoes can erupt at any time without notice
  • Risk of death or serious injury

  • Drowning – Fly Fishing is a water based activity, including swift running water, rapids, slippery surfaces & deep pools, and that with water, risks are increased that could result in drowning
  • Client or guide hooking themselves or others
  • Slips or Trips on uneven ground / Slippery terrain
  • Becoming lost or separated from other participants
  • Varying visibility
  • Fatigue / Dehydration / Exposure to weather conditions
  • Loss or damage of personal items
  • Motor vehicle / Helicopter / Vessel accident during transportation
  • Allergic reactions to food and beverages
